🌼 Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish (Forcipiger flavissimus)

The Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish is a striking and graceful reef inhabitant, known for its bright yellow body, dramatic black-and-white face, and elongated snout. Its unique appearance and curious personality make it a standout addition to larger aquariums. This species uses its long nose to pick at small invertebrates hidden in crevices and live rock.

🪸 Care Guide

  • Temperament: Peaceful

  • Reef Safe: ❌ Caution – may nip at coral polyps, feather dusters, and small inverts

  • Max Size: ~8 inches

  • Diet: Carnivore – feeds on small crustaceans, worms, frozen mysis/brine shrimp, and specialized butterflyfish diets

  • Feeding Frequency: 2–3 times daily

🌊 Tank Requirements

  • Minimum Tank Size: 75 gallons

  • Lighting: Moderate

  • Water Flow: Moderate

  • Aquascape: Live rock with plenty of hiding spots and open swimming space
