Why Acclimate?
Acclimation is necessary because the chemical composition of the water in which the aquatic life is packaged differs from that of your aquarium water (e.g., temperature, pH, salinity). Aquatic life, particularly fish and invertebrates (including corals), are highly sensitive to even minor changes in water chemistry. The purpose of acclimation is to gradually introduce your new aquatic life to the water chemistry of your aquarium in a controlled manner to minimize stress.
