Bulldawg Reef Copepod 3 Species

Price range: $19.99 through $29.99

Zooplankton With all zooplankton bottles it’s common to get some mulm in the bottles. Mulm can be beneficial as it provides a food source for various decomposers and detritivores in the tank, including smaller copepods, which helps maintain a balanced ecosystem. Mulm is organic material, detritus, excrement, molts, and dead pods (dead pods are minimal but some are to be expected). This is harmless to customers’ tanks and contains some beneficial bacteria. Tisbes’ molt as well and will settle to the bottom of the bottle. Zooplankton will aggregate towards light or a white surface. It’s best to store them on a nonwhite surface to avoid them clumping on the bottom. Storing our pods: Ideally, they are stored on the counter with the tops off for oxygen. They can last 2 weeks that way, longer if fed some phytoplankton when the bottle clears, and even longer if an airline is added. They can also be stored in the fridge; however, we are not big fans of it, it slows down the pods, and 2 of the 3 species just end up looking dead until the bottle warms up.

Bulldawg Reef Diatom Phytoplankton Blend

Price range: $9.99 through $15.99

Diatom  Diatom blend has 3 strains of phytoplankton in it, 3 brown/gold diatom strains. This blend is what we recommend for systems dealing with dinos, Cyanobacteria, or benthic diatoms (diatoms on the sand bed, rocks and glass). It does a great job at starving them out by outcompeting for nutrients. If dealing with dinos please reach out. There are 5 main strains of dinos that we encounter in the hobby, and you need to approach them in one of 2 ways (silicate dosing or uv).  Settling daily is normal, just shake daily before each use.

Bulldawg Reef Eliminator Phytoplankton Blend

Price range: $9.99 through $15.99

Eliminator  Eliminator blend has 4 strains of phytoplankton in it, 3 green and 1 brown/gold. This blend is what we recommend for systems with higher nutrients. These strains are known to consume nutrients more efficiently. 2 of the strains are used as industrial water cleaners.  Settling daily is normal, just shake daily before each use.

Bulldawg Reef Elite Phytoplankton Blend

Price range: $9.99 through $15.99

Elite  Elite blend has 8 strains of phytoplankton in it, 4 green and 4 brown/gold. This blend is what we recommend for basic coral feeding and maintenance.  Settling daily is normal, just shake daily before each use.

Bulldawg Reef Rhodomonas Salina

Consume nitrates and phosphates and will survive in your tank until it is consumed. Great food for corals, clams, pods, brine, and other zooplankton and filter feeding species!  This strain only lasts 3-4 weeks after bottling and can develop an odor after the first 10- 14 days. Settling daily is normal, just shake daily before each use.
